| Army Special Operations Forces (SOF) order “Advanced Multi-Channel Vehicle Intercom System” (AMCVIS) Communications-Applied Technology provides follow up order
Reston, VA – February 24, 2005 – The U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment has procured 50 vehicle intercom and radio control systems from Communications-Applied Technology (C-AT) of Virginia. The rugged and splash resistant “AMCVIS” systems allow effective person-to-person communications within high noise mobile environments – such as troop and armament carriers– where team members can “key” between intercom mode and intercom/radio use. The intercom function allows users to communicate with each other at the press of a "talk" (PTT) button. When speaking, users can hear their own voice back from the control unit as a verification that the system is working properly. At the same time, users can monitor traffic from two connected radios. A separate radio talk button is provided to route the user audio to the radio and generate the press-to-talk command. “AMCVIS” prevents distortion with its automatic level control of radio and intercom audio, while also providing each user with personal volume controls. The equipment is especially suited for use in S250 shelter carriers, ambulances, TOW missile carriers, and Scout vehicles. Up to eight crew stations can be supported from a single controller, with no extra “boxes” to mount. All jacks and internal harnesses in crew units and controller have positive locking connectors that are replaceable without soldering. Mounting brackets configurations for mounting overhead in a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle can be supplied. The microphone circuitry in the intercom master unit has filtering, limiting and features to maximize intelligibility under high ambient noise conditions. An Initial order of 80 shipsets was placed in 2004 by the Army SOF unit based at Ft. Benning and was quickly followed up with the additional order for 50 shipsets in 2005. About Communications-Applied Technology (C-AT) C-AT is a veteran-owned, small business that designs and manufactures the ICRI, radios, and intercoms for military, public safety, and commercial organizations.
