Office of National Drug Control Policy Selects Radio Interoperability Equipment for Counter-Drug Efforts
Law Enforcement agencies can obtain “Incident Commanders’ Radio Interface”
through Technology Transfer Program
February 16, 2006 – Washington D.C. – In the effort to empower state and local agencies to disrupt drug markets, the Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center is making the “Incident Commanders’ Radio Interface” (ICRITM) available to law enforcement agencies through its Technology Transfer Program. The ICRI is a communications interoperability device that bridges typically incompatible radio equipment, allowing first-responder to talk with one another.
The Technology Transfer Program is a federally funded program under the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center (ONDCP / CTAC) that provides counterdrug equipment and training to state and local law enforcement agencies at no charge to the agencies. The goals of the program are to use state-of-the-art technology to attack the economic basis of the drug trade.
The patented ICRI, developed by Communications-Applied Technology (C-AT), can be deployed and configured in minutes, quickly and easily linking commercial and military land mobile radios, satellite, cellular/direct-connect, VoIP, and land-line phones. The ICRI provides radio cross-band (VHF, UHF, 800MHz), cross platform (digital/analog, trunked/talk-around, AM/FM), and VoIP capability.
All state and local law enforcement agencies can participate in the Technology Transfer Program, which is administered by the U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground, Special Programs Office.

Three different versions of the ICRI are available, each of which provides up to four independent talkgroups: A 10-port, console/rack-mountable version for fixed or mobile emergency command center; 10-port, portable; and five-port model.
About Communications-Applied Technology (C-AT):
C-AT is a veteran-owned, small business that designs and manufactures the ICRI, radios, and intercoms for military, public safety, and commercial organizations.
Public safety and military agencies across the U.S. have selected ICRIs for the simplicity of operation in supporting their field activities. US Northern Command (Northcom) chose the ICRI as one of three technologies of 49 trialed at the “Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration 2005” for enabling interoperability amongst civilian and military agencies for homeland security and defense.
