C-AT’s Tactical Radio Interoperability and Repeater

Ready for In-Theatre Operations

“Incident Commanders’ Radio Interface (Environmental)” Provides Quick Deployment and Reliable Communications in Extreme Conditions

Reston, Virginia – May 20, 2005 – Delivery has begun of an ICRI that’s ready for even more abuse than earlier models. Still small, lightweight, and capable of operating 30 hours on eight “AA” batteries, the ICRI(E) addresses the special needs of forward deployed military squad and command operations.

The “Incident Commanders’ Radio Interface – Environmental,” ICRI(E) provides soldiers and urban search and rescue teams with interoperability across incompatible radios –creating a link in less than five minutes, without technical assistance, special training, or computer interfaces.

Based on its public safety sister model, the ICRITM – which is used by U.S. fire, police, homeland security, and civilian agencies – the ICRI(E) provides cross-band, cross-platform voice interoperability, supporting all major commercial radios, “green gear” military radios including MBITR and MotorolaTM XTS-5000TM, GlobalStarTM/Inmarsat/IridiumTM satellite telephones, cellular, commercial and STE land-line, and NextelTM “Direct Connect” radio-phones.

Manufactured by Communications Applied-Technology (C-AT), the ICRI(E) features:

  • Shock, vibration, and waterproofed - designed for full operation without damage or impairment from water, dust, sand and other extreme field conditions. The ICRI-E meets MIL-STD- 810f environmental test specifications. 6-31 Vdc or AC operation.
  • Highly portable and compact –weighing just 7 lbs. the construction of the ICRI(E) eliminates the need for over-packing, minimizing pallet and storage space.
  • Functions as a repeater, extending the radio frequency coverage and communications reach inside buildings, “special asset” facilities, and below grade structures.
  • Designed with an extra port to accommodate the legacy H-250/350 military handset so that users don’t have to sacrifice an interoperability channel.

The ICRI has been selected for CWID 2005 Interoperability Trials, the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s “Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration”, taking place May – June.  Recent purchases of the ICRI-E include the Joint Terrorism Task Force and NORTHCOM.  Evaluation and reports by USAF Force Protection Battle Lab and municipal first-response agencies are available.

The ICRI(E) is available on GSA contract GS-07-F-0653N. Packaged with a complement of radio cables, and priced at less than $10,500, the ICRI(E) is available 10-14 days from order.  The ICRI(E) is manufactured by Communications-Applied Technology of Reston, Virginia.  For more information, please call 1-800-229-3925.
