RELIABILITY IS BUILT IN- BY DESIGN, BY CONSTRUCTION, BY QUALITY ASSURANCE

The radio is lightweight and can be worn as a "belt" or "holster". Within the flexible housing, the transmitter and receiver modules are installed in aluminum chassis. The NiCd or alkaline battery is protected by a KydexTM enclosure.

The C-ATTM Series QB portable radios are configured in rugged, 1050 denier "Ballistic" nylon housings. This approach insures compatibility with the user's physical activity, the operating environment, and protective clothing that may be required.

COMPATIBILITY WITH USER'S ACTIVITY AND OPERATING ENVIRONMENT

The positioning of the modules produces a very low profile that does not interfere with physical activity. Activities requiring bending and stooping - and crawling - are not impeded by the radio, it remains stable even during rapid body movement. The location of the radio under the user's arm does not restrict arm range of motion. Wearing the radio for a full shift is painless - the entire assembly weighs only 28 ounces.

"Plug and go" compatible and interchangeable with lightweight headsets/boom microphones, throat microphones for "plastic suit" work, or hearing protector headsets greatly expands the tasks with which the radio can be used and the correctness of the radio/headset configuration for each task.

NiCd battery pack duty cycle is conservatively rated at 10 hours of continuous operation. The NiCd pack can be quickly replaced for 24 hour operation.

One or two 9V alkaline batteries can be used as an alternative supply. The battery connections are simple and rugged for years of maintenance-free operations.

An intrinsically safe configuration is available.

INTERFACE WITH PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

An additional benefit of the less than 1" profile is the ease which the C-AT portable radio can be positioned under protective clothing in harsh operating environments. The nylon housing is easy to clean or decon, should it become necessary.

The Series QBTM portable radios are compatible with all respiratory protection, air-line or self-contained breathing apparatus. Full compatibility is provided with masks that have original equipment, installed microphones/speakers.

The switches and connectors on the housing are positive-lock. The volume control adjustment is surrounded by a guard. Radios don't turn off unexpectedly! Listening levels don't change unintentionally with the C-AT system!

Puncturing or snagging protective clothing with C-AT antennas is impossible. The antennas are stranded wire with a soft rubber jacket. This "limp" design allows the antennas to lay unobtrusively against the user's body.

Whether worn under protective clothing or with work clothing, the C-AT radio assemblies will fit everyone comfortably. The infinitely adjustable straps on the housing use positive-lock, FastexTM plastic buckle assemblies.
