C-AT takes Lead on Fixing Interoperability Interference
In response to the increasing incidents of severe public safety radio disruption at multi-agency disaster response – caused by multiple interoperability “bridges” being enabled with the radios on the same frequencies – C-AT is providing the “Bridge Unit ID” on all Incident Commanders’ Radio Interfaces (ICRI) models.
Be Part of the Solution
Make sure your next interoperability device has Bridge Unit ID, now available on all new ICRI configurations and for retrofitting into existing ICRIs. C-AT encourages all manufacturers to provide this capability so that multi-agency disaster response isn’t unnecessarily hampered.
Which ICRI is right for you? Get Bridge Unit ID on the latest ICRIs:
ICRI 4TG/10P (4 talk-group/10-port)
Creates up to four (4) independent talk groups for agencies that need a coordinated response to large scale disasters, enabling 1st responders to collaborate on-scene, and reach back to command despite using incompatible radio equipment.
ICRI-4T (4 talk-group)
Selected by DHS for its "Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program" (CEDAP). Available as rugged portable built into water-proof Pelican case; or rack-mountable. Fully compatible with low band, VHF, 220-900MHz legacy and P25 portable/mobile radios.

ICRI-2P
Smaller size is ideal for quick-deploy interoperability for urban in-building and subway repeater applications. Measures just 7.5” x 9.5” x1.5”. Self powered with 9V battery for 5 hour duty cycle
(shown with Cable Reel/Extension).

How Bridge Unit ID transmission works:
An agency created unit ID---as a digitized voice message---will be transmitted on all talk groups. The message can be transmitted once every 5 minutes, or be set for 10 or 15 minute intervals.
With this capability, the ICRI bridge device will not be an anonymous emitter of RF. Incident Commanders will be able to readily identify the device(s) operating, and take necessary action to disable the redundant Bridge Device(s).
If any ICRI Talk Group is "active" when the interval has cycled, the transmission of the Unit ID will be automatically delayed until all Talk Groups are clear of other inputs
The ID can be programmed to be transmitted when the ICRI is powered “on”.
The "ID" is a digitized speech that can be programmed at the Organizational (O) level.
The “ID” can be disabled in the field for Operational Security purposes (a front panel enable/disable control is provided for field control of the transmission)
